Chassis

K frame

All 67-76 A-body k-frames interchange but there are differences:

1967 - biscuit mounts ; one year only idler arm that is failure prone
1968-1972 - biscuit mounts; same as 1967 but with the 68-76 idler arm
1973-1976 - spool mounts; 68-76 idler arm; preferred k-frame for performance swaps

Body

Sheetmetal

The front floor pans, cowl, inner fenders and front subframe are shared amongst all A body vehicles. Thus all Valiants and Darts share the same inner front end sheetmetal regardless of wheelbase.

Fenders

The Dart and Valiant Fenders have a different wheel well shape. Duster/Scamp comes straight down behind the wheel where a Dart sweeps back. The grille is different and attaches differently. According to the parts interchange, most years got a new part number for the fenders for both dart and valiant.

Valiant Fenders
  • Exact match is '72-'76 Valiant/Duster/Scamp. 67-71 also fits/works
  • 67 has no sidemarkers (easy to drill-in the 72-76 surface-mount items)
  • 68 has round sidemarkers (can probably still easily replace with 72-76 surface-mount)
  • 69-71 has flush recessed sidemarkers.

Doors

All 4-door sedans share the same front doors. All hardtops and coupes share the same doors although the glass is different. The 2-door sedans (Dart 1967-1968 and Valiant 1967-1969) also shared front doors. The 108" wheelbase rear doors had different exterior sheetmetal than the 111" wheelbase sedans.

Glass

  • Windshields: sedans (2-door and 4-door) are the same; Barracudas, hardtops, and

convertibles are the same; coupes (Duster, Demon, Sport) are the same.

  • Rear windows: sedans (2-door and 4-door) are the same; Barracudas, hardtops, and

convertibles have unique parts; coupes (Duster, Demon, Sport) are the same.
